Suraj Girijashanker
“The best candidate won and that was me”. Suraj slammed opponent Michael Lok, saying that “he played dirty and was not running a civil campaign”, but he added that he would be happy to work with his other competitor Farsan Ghassim.
Suraj was delighted at his victory in an “intense race” against the other candidates who he believed had the support from the “AU and Chinese students”.
He gave his reasons for running commenting that “his first week at LSE was a culture shock” and he didn’t want any other international student to feel the same way that he did.

I think that Suraj’s comments are very unfair and unfounded.
If anything Michael Lok was highly conscientious of the rules and procedures involved in this student election to suggest something different is quite defamatory.
I think that Suraj should really change his attitude towards working with Michael as he will be on the C&S committee for the term 2009/2010.
This is what politics are about; you take your win or loss graciously and do your best to serve the public interest not undermine fellow candidates.

Suraj is just being Suraj. Brutally honest. He’s not someone to make a comment which is unsubstantiated.
Had he lost I would have understood why you thought so, but thats not something you say straight after a massive victory. Particularly considering he is more than happy to work with Farsan Ghassim who is an amazing candidate.
