Cole Ryan, Emmanuel Akpan-Inwang’s campaign manager, gave credit to the other candidates in the Ed Welfare race: “All candidates ran a very hard race, and it was open to anybody. They are all very qualified. Emmanuel is going to do a great job.”

Helen Roberts reacts to defeat in Education and Welfare race

Roberts: “I should have won. It’s unfair that the Sabbs are allowed to re-run, it puts them at an advantage.”

When asked about allegations that Ed Welfare was the dirtiest race, she “totally agrees, but I had nothing to do with it, and nor did Ruby.”

Ed Welfare speaks live on our feed

“I’m going to everything it takes to make sure that the students of this university get everything they deserve” said the re-elected education and welfare officer Emmanuel Akpan-Inwang.

He commented that at every point the race for Ed Welfare was “open”. He expressed confidence for Aled’s camapign for re-election saying, “I wouldn’t have been able to do my work without Aled.”

He said that his job was very difficult but that he was, “absolutley delighted to be coming back next year.”

Akpan-Inwangs election means that the Sabbatical team will once again be all male.
